Death of a large number of terrorists was recorded, while many others were scampering all over the forest and out of the struck bases.


Director, Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, who disclosed the update of the military onslaught on the terrorists in the North-East, said details of casualty would be determined in subsequent phases of the operation.


He added that the strikes were ongoing in other locations of the theatre, heralding the advance of troops and other elements of the mission.


Olukolade added that the intensive air strike in parts of Gwoza and Sambisa was to prepare ground for Nigerian ground troops to move in and take over the area.
