Abia State Gov Dr Ikeazu Appeals To Judiciary Workers To Resume Work

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has appealed to the state chapter of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, to suspend its prolonged strike and resume work in the overall interest of the state and litigants.

The governor made the appeal when he received a delegation of judges in the state led by the Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Uzokwe, yesterday.

He expressed worry that the strike had crippled activities in the judicial system.

Reminding them that no arm of government could function effectively without the other, Ikpeazu pledged that his government would ensure cordial relationship among the three arms of government.

The governor also promised to address the challenges facing the state judiciary, assuring that his administration would ensure effective delivery of democracy dividends to the people of the state through prudent application of available resources.

Governor Ikpeazu commended the state Chief Judge, Justice Uzokwe, for her efforts to bring the striking workers to work.

He assured that with joint efforts from all stakeholders, things would get better for the state.

Earlier in her address, Justice Theresa Uzokwe explained that they came to welcome the governor to the seat of power and urged him to look into the demands of the striking judiciary workers to get them back to work.

She also pledged the unalloyed support and co-operation of the judiciary to Ikpeazu’s administration.
