Alleged N1.35bn fraud: Court receives new proof against Sule Lamido:

A Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Friday, April 5, obtained more documents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as evidence towards Sule Lamido, a former Jigawa state governor, and others charged. Lamido is on prosecution alongside his two sons who are Aminu Sule Lamido and Mustapha Sule Lamide. Premium Times report.

Others standing trial with him are Aminu Wada Abubakar and two different companies known as Bamaina Holdings Limited and Speeds International Limited. It should be recalled that all of them are being prosecuted by way of the anti-graft corporation for defrauding Jigawa state to money strolling to the tune of N1.35 billion. Documents presented in court are a subpoena summoning the bank’s illustration of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Longi Tupkop, account opening files for Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company Ltd, identification archives of the signatories, certificate of incorporation of Datata and Sawoe Construction Company Ltd, and allotment of shares form from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Tupkop’s testimony in court shows the important points of the transaction made between April 23 and 26, 2013, amongst which used to be N35,627,061.85 million, the first transaction. The testifier said: “On April 3, 2013, the cheques were introduced for clearing and the account was debited, but the cheques were lower back and the account credited returned due to lack of confirmation.
On the 26th of April 2013, however, the returned cheques have been represented for payment and they were paid.” The court docket case was once adjourned to May 20, 21 and 22, 2019 for the continuation of trial by the trial judge, Ijeoma Ojukwu.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier stated that the trial of Lamido was adjourned on Thursday, November 22, 2018, via Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. The adjournment, according to the anti-graft agency, is to enable the prosecution to avail the defense with all the necessary archives required for trial. The statement received by Legit.ng suggests that Lamido was arraigned alongside two of his sons - Aminu and Mustapha.
